Frequently
Asked Questions

Nope! You can add as little or as much information as you’d like. But it’s fun to add more details to your profile! Try putting something like “first-year political science student” in the title section so that people can get to know you better.

When you are looking at the calendar under the ‘Schedule’ view, click on the days that have a dot underneath a bolded number. You will be able to see the event details listed for that day! The plus sign on the right hand side of your screen will add the event to your calendar in-app, called ‘My Schedule’, which can be found at the top of your screen. If you’d like to add the event to your personal calendar on your device, click on the event itself. At the top right corner, the share symbol will allow you to add this event to your personal calendar.

Students can only view days and months that have events posted. If the number (for days) is bolded in black with a dot underneath it in the ‘Year’ or ‘Month’ view on the calendar, that means there is an event posted for that day. When you use the ‘Year’ view on your calendar, the days will still be bolded and have the dot underneath so you can see which months and days have events.

Events can be searched using the search function at the top right of your home page in the Western USC community.

Using the ‘USC Directory’ feature, scroll through the list of people to find someone who can help you or direct you to someone better suited! If you still can’t find someone to help you, please send an email to the info@westernusc.ca account. Or, if you have a quick question, ask it using the ‘Q&A’ feature! In addition, you can use the ‘Follow us’ feature to send us a DM on any of our social media pages.

Under the ‘Health Resources’ feature, you can find information regarding your student Health-Dental plan, Health Resources and Wellness Resources.

Using your class schedule, look for the class locations and match them to the ones listed on the ‘My Class Finder’. This feature will show you pictures of the building and the general classroom area. You will also be able to see the location on Google Maps and the address of the building.

For first-year students, OWeek costs are automatically added to your tuition as part of the ancillary fees you pay. Paying these fees allows the USC to create an amazing series of events that will welcome you to the Western community (this includes concerts!!). If you choose to opt-out of paying that portion of your fees it means that you will not be able to attend or participate in any OWeek events and programming. This includes, but is not limited to the Opening Ceremonies, the Headlining Concert, etc.

Deadline: August 15th, 2023 (PASSED)

Your Students’ Council and Western University work together to oversee Orientation Week at Western! The Orientation Pass (OPass) Fee included on your fee bill is your ticket to all the OWeek activities.

These activities include access to concerts, games and other events on campus, and are made possible in part through this fee.

For almost all incoming students, the $143.14 ($126.67 plus $16.47 HST) OPass fee is automatically included in your tuition. If you are a new to Western student who is unable to participate in Orientation Week, you can request a refund for this amount on your fee statement.

The deadline to opt-out of the OPass has already passed for the 2023-24 academic year.
